005. [Video]
[For what is possibly the FIRST TIME since this kid figured out how to hit the 'post' button, the video is actually STILL.]
[That's because he's set it down on a fence post. The pale, mystical feathers that have been coating every surface like magical dandelion fluff are drifting past on the breeze, but they're not the focus of the video. Instead, the 'Gear's camera seems to be pointed directly into someone's yard, although it's from a little bit of a distance.]
[The place is kind of a dump, with junk littering the corners and lots of weeds. A ramshackle doghouse is erected in the middle, with an upturned waterbowl that doesn't appear to have been filled in some time.]
[A coil of old, frayed rope is tied around one of the boards of the 'house' and at the end of it is a snoozing blue Vaporeon, ear-fins twitching lightly.]
[The view isn't especially zoomed in, but it's still obvious what the Pokemon is.]
[For a time, that's all the video shows.]
[But then Wrath speaks, his voice hushed.]
... I saw the man in that house come home and he didn't even PET her.
Or give her any food.
She looks sad.
[Half an hour later...]
[Now the feed shows HIM, and there's part of a rotten board stuck in his hair. And rope twines in his teeth. And he is cradling something blue that kind of overflows out of his arms in a pile of contented paws and fins.]
This is Sleepy.
She's blue and I love her.

So it was probably MORE.
Anyway, she's mine now. Nobody else can have her.
So there.
[And then, because he saw somebody do this at some point to signify that they won an argument, he sticks his tongue out. MAKING IT OFFICIAL.]
What if her owner goes to the police?
They could put you in jail.
[... The rules of Team Rocket, maybe, but IT'S KIND OF THE OPPOSITE FOR EVERYBODY ELSE. He doesn't know that, though.]
Anyway, they'd have to catch me to put me in jail.
And nobody can do that.
[That means they're all on the same terms, and Wrath is just a kid.]
[Eventually he's gonna piss off the wrong person and they're going to RUN HIM THE HELL DOWN but until then, his stubborn belief that he can still get away from literally anybody is going to persist.]
[She says, totally convinced, not yet aware of how faulty this police system is.]
Well, I'm smarter.
I got away from the army back home.
[WITH HELP FROM SEVERAL DIFFERENT PARTIES...]
Why did the army want you?
They didn't really talk to me a lot when they had me.
Just put me on a table and touched me with a lot of sharp things.
Cause you have a power, right?
I dunno what they wanted to find out.
Whatever it was, I got away before they could.
Sometimes people want to test what you can do. But it's not right or anything. So ... it's good that you got away.
I don't think I would've liked being there.
They didn't let me have clothes, or a real bed.
[And then, quietly:]
Yeah.
[She's not saying he's wrong or that he's lying - she's using that tone that means she's aware of how things aren't like they should be anymore.]
Mostly just kill things.
[Not that he... particularly cared about the people of Liore-- he had no reason to. But the fact remained. When the army had rushed in, protection had not remotely been their mission. They were there to commit genocide. Again.]
