The moment that happens, Rikki recoils with her nose wrinkling, quickly digging in her heels so she can stop her momentum before she can get any closer to the Trubbish with it just dropping trash everywhere like that. She ends up overshooting the Pokemon by a couple feet anyway, her claws scraping the sidewalk as she stops herself. It seems that the attack was enough to stop the Trubbish in it's tracks, which is what she was aiming for anyway.
